cornerstone women’s shelter | interior planning
Cornerstone Shelter provides emergency shelter and supportive housing for homeless women in Ottawa. Since 1984, Cornerstone has been working closely with the municipal, provincial and federal governments, local businesses, community and church groups, donors and volunteers. Cornerstone offers a wide range of services to assist homeless women to seek healing and new opportunities.
This five-week project was a re-design of an existing space within the shelter within a modest budget. The living/dining room was chosen for its frequency of use (as a communal space), in addition to the impact it has on the well-being and regeneration for its occupants, as a space for relaxation and social interaction.
Design Completion: 2007.
